Dip pen nanolithography

A technique developed by Chad Mirkin and coworkers where an atomic force microscope is used to pattern surfaces with molecules or particles.  The 'ink' can include: organic molecules, proteins, DNA, and nanoparticles.  The resolution of patterned features is controlled by adjusting factors such as humidity, contact force and contact time.

See Mirkin, ACS Nano, 1, 79-83 (2007).
